Nebraskats Show Choir In Concert Wednesday, Dec. 3, In UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall

UNK- The University of Nebraska at Kearney Nebraskats show choir will perform Broadway tunes and songs of the holiday season in a series of performances in early December that will culminate in a 7:30 p.m. concert in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 3.. 
 
According to Nebraskats director Dr. Andrew White, the program will showcase pop and jazz-style pieces from past and present musical eras along with holiday seasonal favorites. Among the selections being performed are: “Seize the Day” from the movie musical “Newsies,” “You’re the One that I Want” from the Broadway hit “Grease,” “Life is a Highway” by the Rascal Flatts, “All I Want for Christmas is You” and “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” The concert is free and open to the public. 
 
The Nebraskats tour schedule includes performances at three Central Nebraska high schools on Monday, Dec. 1. They will perform at Aurora High School at 9:10 a.m., Giltner High School at 2:30 p.m. and Grand Island Senior High School at 2:30 p.m. 

Participation in the 14-member ensemble is based on competitive audition. All members are full-time UNK students from various departments of study. Nebraskats performances feature a combination of song and dance to musical selections of every genre and era, ranging from Broadway show tunes to medleys by popular composers. The ensemble also performs tour appearances around the region. The Nebraskats celebrated their 40th anniversary in April.
