Student Talent Showcased At The Fourth Annual UNK ‘Fame’ Talent Show

UNK- Amber Davis of Sidney and the Tiny Boys, a Japanese duo, took first place in their respective categories at the fourth annual “Fame” Talent Show at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Nearly 375 people packed the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room to be entertained. This year’s “Fame” Talent Show featured 15 acts put on by UNK students. Among the talents performed were singing, playing instruments, comedy magic routines and dancing.

Jami Schaffnitt, coordinator of student activities, said, “I think that this was one of the best years of ‘Fame’ we’ve had. We had a variety of talent and some very entertaining performances. The crowd really got into it and seemed to enjoy themselves.”

Students competed in two categories — individual or group performances.

The winners in the individual category were as follows:

1st Place – Amber Davis of Sidney, handbell solo

2nd Place- Xia Wan of China, singing and playing piano

3rd Place- Spencer Wolfe of Lincoln, comedy magic

The winners in the group category were as follows:

1st Place- Tiny Boys, Satru Nishimoto & Yoshikatsu Noda, both of Japan, hip hop dancing

2nd Place- Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, dancing

3rd Place- The Amazing Duet, Phillip Zuehlke of Grand Island and Shawna Beeler of Woodland Park, Colo.,

Schaffnitt noted that “Fame” will likely continue to be a regular spring event at UNK.
