The fourth annual Dr. Kent Estes Memorial Golf Tournament has been set for April 19 at the Kearney Country Club.
The tournament, which is hosted by Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, has raised more than $23, 000 for scholarships for University of Nebraska at Kearney students in the past three years. The event is named for Dr. Kent Estes, a former professor at UNK who died in 2005. Proceeds from the tournament event help support two scholarships which have been established in Dr. Estes’ name.
The format of play for the tournament is a four-man scramble with a shotgun start. The entry fee is $80, which includes 18 holes of golf, cart rental and a meal after the tournament. The registration deadline is April 5.
Three sponsorship opportunities are also offered for this event. Those who would like to sponsor a hole during the tournament may do so for $500, $300 or $150. Also, those who are unable to attend, but would still like to donate, may do so by contacting Aaron Smith at smithaj@unk.edu or calling 402.369.1184, or by contacting Craig Zegers at zegerscw@unk.edu or calling 402.615.1215.
