UNK- It will be all about saxophones when the 2008 Saxophone Madness event welcomes young saxophonists to the University of Nebraska at Kearney Fine Arts Building on Saturday, March 1.
The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is sponsored by Dr. David Nabb, UNK associate professor of music. Kearney native and UNK graduate Staff Sergeant Chris Stelling will perform and lead some of the sessions. Stelling joined the United States Air Force in 1998 and was then assigned to the Heartland of America Band at Offutt Air Force Base. He performs as a saxophonist in the concert and ceremonial bands, as well as lead alto and tenor saxophonist in The Noteables jazz ensemble.
Saxophone Madness is open to all junior and senior high school saxophonists and their teachers.
“Participants will have the opportunity to meet other saxophonists from around the state of Nebraska while experiencing saxophone playing, learning and performances,” Dr. Nabb said.
