NEBRASKATS PERFORM IN FOUR NEBRASKA COMMUNITIES ON MONDAY, FEB. 19

The Nebraskats show choir from the University of Nebraska at Kearney will perform in Bennington, Elkhorn, Columbus and Grand Island on Monday, Feb. 19.
    
The performance schedule has the group in high schools in Bennington at 8:15 a.m., Elkhorn at 10:15 a.m. and Columbus at 1:15 p.m. In Grand Island, the show choir will take the stage at 7 p.m. in the town’s historic Liederkranz building.
    
The 12-voice choir is accompanied by a three-person band. The group specializes in high-energy performances featuring music from famous performers such as The Manhattan Transfer, Shania Twain and Carole King, as well as the musicals “Barnum” and “High School Musical.” In addition, the group will perform medleys of Cole Porter and Motown favorites.
    
UNK students from across the state of Nebraska are members of the show choir. Members include Alexander Ritter, Columbus; Michaela Nutt, Dillan Riley, and Dirk Riley, Cozad; Black Thompson, Dalton; Tyler Kaufman, Elkhorn; Alicia Spelts and Rutheah Williams, Grand Island; Tray Henricksen, Clifford Holman, James Jelkin, Samantha Jenny, Mandy Kalkwarf and Mary Lillyman, Kearney; and Katherine Bauer, Seward.
    
Dr. Andrew White, assistant professor of music and performing arts, directs the Nebraskats. Dr. David Bauer, professor of music and performing arts, serves as choral adviser, while Gary Schaaf, professor of music and performing arts, is the resident choreographer for the group.

Dr. White said the performances will offer a good show to those in attendance.
