HYPNOTIST JIM WAND RETURNS TO UNK JAN. 25 WITH MORE ENTERTAINMENT FOR STUDENTS

Tim Danube
associate director of the Nebraskan Student Union, 308.865.8523

Entertainer and hypnotist Dr. Jim Wand will return to the University of Nebraska at Kearney to entertain students with performances at 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room.

“This is one event we bring back year after year, because the response from the students and community is so favorable,” Danube said. “It is often the first thing students talk about when making plans for the next programming year.”

Danube said the popular hypnotist usually performs two shows at UNK in order to have enough space for those who wish to attend. He also said the shows generate a lot of interest within the community, in addition to that of UNK students.

“Besides the entertainment value of the show, the show also has an educational component,” Danube said. “Dr. Wand also gives information on how to improve yourself, from academics to giving up bad habits.”

Dr. Wand’s specialty is his ability to convince audience members, through hypnosis, to put aside their inhibitions and act in ways they normally wouldn’t in front of an audience. He   blends motivational messages and entertainment to make each event both informative and entertaining.

Danube said the upcoming shows will include a Jim Wand look-alike contest. Students who attend the event dressed in Dr. Wand’s signature white suit and sunglasses will be judged on stage and be eligible for a grand prize.

Dr. Wand has worked with many celebrity personalities, including Jay Leno, Chris Rock and Larry the Cable Guy. He has been active in the field of hypnosis for more than 20 years and has more than 5,000 performances to his credit.

General admission to the event is $4. UNK students can attend for $1 with a valid student ID.
