Eight music students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney have been selected to perform in the Student Honors Recital Sunday (April 30) at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.
The performance, which is free and open to the public, features the top students from among those who performed on Wednesday afternoon recitals during the semester.
The student performers are listed below in alphabetical order by hometown:
Kearney – Sarah Cole, piano, is a student of Dr. Valerie Cisler, chair of the
Department of Music. Cole will play Paganini Variations  by Robert Muczynski.
She is a senior.

Kearney – Heidi Hilligas, violin, is a student of student of Dr. Ting-Lan Chen . A junior,
Hilligas will perform Piano Trio in G major  by Franz Joseph Haydn. Performing with
her will be Tina Lund of Kearney, cello, and Nozomi Ogata, piano.

Kearney –  Nicole Freburg-Hoffmeister, mezzo-soprano, is a student of Dr. Andrew
White. A junior, she will perform Aaron Copland’s  Why do they shut me out of
Heaven and My Foolish Heart.

Kearney –  Deanna Tiller, soprano and a composition student of Dr. Darleen
Mitchell, will perform three original pieces she has composed. She will be
accompanied by Dr. Mitchell on piano and Dr. Jan Harriott on clarinet.

Plattsmouth – Matthew Nicholson, baritone, is a vocal student of Dr.
Anne Foradori. A senior, he will perform Chanson Triste  and Lamento
by Henri Duparc.

North Platte – Brette Covington, mezzo-soprano, is a vocal student of Dr.
Anne Foradori. A senior, she will perform ” Gimme, Gimme”  from Thoroughly
Modern Millie  by Jeanine Tesori. She will be accompanied by Todd Thalken
of Kearney on piano.


     Aichi –  Akina Yura, piano, is a student of Dr. Nathan Buckner. A sophomore,
she will perform Piano Concerto No. in G minor  by Camille Saint-Saens.

     Mito City –  Kumiko Yoshizawa, piano, is a student of Dr. James Cook. A
senior, she will perform Caprice Espanol  by M. Moszkowski.
