A day of community service provided by UNK students, faculty and staff, The Big Event will open with a kick-off celebration beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Cushing Coliseum on the campus. Volunteers will gather together before scattering out across the city to do their projects. The kick-off celebration will include brief presentations by state, local and University leaders about the value and importance of service.

Among the job sites where volunteers will be working are the Kearney Public Library, the Museum of Nebraska Art, Trails and Rails Museum and job sites at individual homes throughout the Kearney area.
