The Loper Programming and Activities Council (LPAC) and Computer Hardware are sponsoring a Halo tournament Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room.
Halo 2 software will be used for the tournament. According to www.gamerankings.com , Halo 2 continues the story of the Master Chief, a genetically enhanced super-soldier who is the only human ever to successfully defy the Covenant — a coalition of alien races on a murderous march toward Earth. To the mysterious leaders of the Covenant, the human victory at the ancient ring structure known as Halo was an unacceptable failure. They will not fail again.
More than 30 teams of two have entered the tournament, each providing their own controllers. The Xbox and television monitors are provided. Double elimination is the design of competition for the tournament. Cash prizes will be awarded.
“Halo 2 is the most popular game there is–more popular that sports, adventure and military games,” said Tim Danube, UNK associate director of the Nebraskan Student Union.
