Nearly 200 Nebraska high school juniors and seniors who rank in the top 10 percent of their class were on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus Monday for Scholars Recognition Day, an annual recognition event at UNK.
In all, there were 186 students who attended, slightly more than double the number of students who attended the event last year.
“Nebraska high schools are invited to submit the names of their students who rank in the top 10 percent of the junior and senior classes,” said Dusty Newton, UNK director of Admissions. “We also invited students from our own database of students who have 26 or higher ACT scores.”
The students are hosted on campus by the Admissions Office, the Honors Program, the Chancellor’s Office and the Omaha World-Herald/Kearney Hub.
The students and their parents have an opportunity to meet current UNK students, faculty and staff as well as be honored at a luncheon hosted by UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen.
