The University of Nebraska at Kearney construction management program is one of only nine such programs nationwide selected to receive a $1,000 donation from Stetson Building Products.
Stetson Building Products, with headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa, made the $1,000 donations in celebration of being in business for 50 years. The donation to UNK was made last week during regional 50-year recognition activities in Grand Island.
“Stetson selected UNK for several reasons,” said John Willmore, Stetson EVP and CFO. “We were impressed with UNK’s strong construction management academic program as well as the commitment the UNK construction management program shows students, before and after graduation.”
“The UNK construction management program’s contributions to the construction industry are many, and for this we thank you,” Willmore concluded.
According to Dr. Ken Larson, chair of the Department of Industrial Technology, the donation will be used to assist construction management program students and faculty with travel to professional conferences related to the building industry. The first to benefit from the gift will be a group of UNK students who will travel to Orlando, Fla., in January to attend the National Association of Home Builders International Builders Show.
