U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) announced today that the Department of Education awarded the University of Nebraska at Kearney $248,000. The funds will deliver a combination of program elements designed to increase access and preparedness to higher education among under represented minority groups, first generation college attendees, and economically disadvantaged students.
“Higher education plays a vital role in our society. It is important that students with all backgrounds receive equal opportunities. This funding will help prepare Nebraska’s young people to learn and succeed in school,” Hagel said.
The funding will support students in their current educational activities, expand their interest in learning through targeted enrichment activities, and foster understanding and expectations related to higher education.
