TWO UNK STUDENTS RECEIVE COMMITTED TO LIVES OF EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

Dustin Johnson and Ryan Dettman are University of Nebraska at Kearney recipients of the 2004 Committed to Lives of Excellence Scholarship.

The scholarship is awarded by Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity and is available to incoming college students who enrolled in the fall of 2004 on any of nearly 125 campuses across the United States where a Delta Tau Delta chapter is located.

Applicants were assessed on academic achievement, high school involvement, leadership and responses to essays on
work experience, academics and what being committed to a life of excellence means to them.

Johnson of Verdon attended Falls City High School. He was ranked seventh of 87 in his class with a grade point average of 3.98 on a 4.0 scale. He was involved in performing arts, show choir, Falls City tutoring program and the Hanson leadership program. He was a member of National Honor Society, academic all-state football, drug free youth program and the Falls City teacher assistant program.

Dettman of Nebraska City attended Nebraska City High School. He was ranked first of 113 in his class with a grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale. He was a member of National Honor Society, student council and DECA executive council. Dettman was a football, basketball and baseball varsity letterman. He was also a member of academic all-state in football, basketball and baseball.

Scholarship recipients receive a one-time $500 book scholarship and recognition certificate.
