Syd, a 21-year-old singer/songwriter, will perform from 8:30-10:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Nebraskan Student Union.

Syd is said to evoke the mood and melody of his influences, ranging from Ani Difranco and Pearl Jam to Metallica and Dave Matthews.

Syd’s first record, Week Days Weak Knees, came together in just a few weeks. Completing it at 19, Syd worked out of a friend’s basement in Boston with a few hundred dollars. Week Days Weak Knees ranked number two in sales on Mp3.com.

In the last year, Syd has played for clubs, colleges and festivals, including Nashville River Stages and the House of Blues. He had more than 50 dates on his fall 2003 college tour and has sold thousands of CD’s at live shows and on the web.

Syd is the second of four artists to perform for the UNK Mochas and Music Coffeehouse series. Upcoming artists include John Rush performing Friday, Feb. 4, and Easily Amused performing Friday, March 4.
