University of Nebraska at Kearney Chancellor Doug Kristensen will host the community for a 2004 Foster Field Kick-off, Community Appreciation Tailgate before the football season opener against Wayne State on Saturday, Sept. 4. Kick-off time is 1 p.m.

The 2004 Foster Field Kick-off, Community Appreciation Tailgate, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 12:30 p.m. on the mall just south of the Nebraskan Student Union. The tailgate menu will include bratwurst, barbecue beef, potato salad, cole slaw, chips, baked beans, Rice Krispies bars, iced tea and lemonade.

That Saturday is also NCAA football’s annual “Take a Kid to the Game” day. UNK is one of more than 200 NCAA member institutions across the nation taking part in the program. Children ages 14 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The general admission ticket for an adult accompanying a child will be $4. Admission for adults not accompanied by a child will be $6. For youth ages 15-high school seniors, admission is $4.
