The Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help during the third annual Student Move-In Day set for Friday, Aug. 20, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Chamber volunteers are needed in each residence hall to greet students and their parents, and help families move their students’ belongings into their rooms.
“This is an excellent opportunity to welcome students into our community,” said Andrea McClintic, the program director at the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce.
According to McClintic, this event is not just for the physically fit. Individuals are also needed to hold doors open and answer any questions the students may have.
Student Move-In Day will begin at 9 a.m., and volunteers will be needed until 3 p.m. that afternoon. Volunteers receive a free T-shirt and are invited to attend the Chancellor’s Blue and Gold Picnic later that evening.
Those interested in volunteering for Student Move-In Day need to call the Chamber offices at 308.237.4671 before Aug. 13.
