UNK Forensics returns with Trophies from California

Returning from the Mt. San Antonio College/California Baptist
University Swing Tournament held in Walnut, California, the University of
Nebraska at Kearney Forensics Team arrived with trophies.

The tournament held on January 17-18 brought together 18 teams from
throughout the country. The swing tournament consisted of two tournaments
held on the same weekend.

Alisha Nabity, Lincoln freshman, placed fifth in Informative Speaking and
sixth in Duo Interpretation at the Mt. SAC tournament. She was a
semi-finalist at the California Baptist tournament in Informative Speaking.
Nabity’s partner in Duo Interpretation is freshman Kenny Hopkinson of North

Platte. Hopkinson also placed sixth in After Dinner Speaking at the
California Baptist tournament. Placing fourth in After Dinner Speaking at
the Mt. SAC tournament was Kirk Burtwistle, Stanton senior. At the
California Baptist Tournament Burtwistle placed second in Informative
Speaking and fourth in Impromptu.
