Peter Longo, professor of political science at the University of
Nebraska at Kearney, was the primary co-editor and wrote a chapter in the
book Water on the Great Plains: Issues and Policies. In a recent survey
members of the Association of American University Presses were asked to
list their three most significant titles for 2001-2002 and Longo’s book
made Texas Tech’s top three list.

Other UNK faculty and staff contributing to the completion of the book were
John Anderson, Charles Bicak and Joan Blawkamp who wrote chapters and
Charles Fort who wrote several water poems.

In Water on the Great Plains: Issues and Policies, Longo and David W.
Yoskowitz, co-editor from Texas A&M International University in Laredo,
have collected current scholarship on the cultural, economic, environmental, legal and political implications of water policy.

According to a book review by www.watermagazine.com, the “essays paint a
picture of a varied landscape and of the historic and political background
to the water allocation disputes of today.”
