Two recreation and marketing classes from the University of Nebraska at Kearney are helping the American Heart Association host a “Hoops for Heart” 3-on-3 basketball tournament. It will be November 19 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Health and Sports Center.

Men and women over the age of 18 can participate. Entry fee is $35. Teams are guaranteed four games, a T-shirt if registered by November 8 and a chance to participate in a slam-dunk, three-point or free-throw contest. Winners will receive cash prizes and gift certificates.

All proceeds will go directly to the American Heart Association to help fund research and education about heart disease and stroke, the number one and number three causes of death and disability among American adults.
Registration forms and informational fliers can be found across UNK’s campus, Walmart, the Sporting Edge and Sporting Village, Kearney’s YMCA, local churches and the Kearney Parks and Recreation Office, located at City Hall. Registration will be from November 4 – 15.
