Loper pride will soon be parading across Nebraska and into Colorado with the 2002 “Go for the Gold” reception tour beginning in early February. “Go for the Gold” receptions are an annual event organized by the office of Admissions at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. UNK Admissions staff, faculty, and campus supporters travel to various cities to promote UNK to prospective students and parents.

“I feel these receptions are very valuable because it gives prospective students and their families a chance to interact with UNK faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the university in a casual setting,” John Kundel, UNK director of Admissions said. “It’s a great opportunity for personal interaction with various sectors of the university. We have as much fun meeting and talking with the students as I hope they do with us. We’re very proud of what UNK is and has to offer and have a great time sharing the UNK experience.”

Topics for discussion at the receptions include an overview of UNK, including its mission and vision, brief descriptions of the academic colleges and majors, financial aid packages, and housing opportunities. There will be time for informal one-on-one discussions with UNK representatives as well.

The “Go for the Gold” reception tour will include representatives from the colleges of Education, Natural & Social Sciences, Fine Arts & Humanities and Business & Technology, Athletics, Admissions, Financial Aid, Residential and Greek Life, the Honors Program, and the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce. Current UNK students will also be on hand to share their memorable experiences while being a Loper.
