The University of Nebraska at Kearney and the Emergency Medical Services Program will present the first Train-The-Trainer Course for the “Pre-Hospital Management of Traumatic Brain Injury” in Nebraska on Oct. 23. The course will run from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Ockinga Building on the west campus of UNK.

The training for EMS personnel covers oxygenation, blood pressure, ventilation strategies and inter-rater reliability in Glasgow Coma Scale scoring for traumatic brain injury patients.

Participants will learn to rapidly identify and treat a traumatic brain injury patient at the scene and in the ambulance. The 8-hour Train-The-Trainer course is sponsored by the Brain Trauma Foundation and is supported by a grant from the National Highway Safety Administration. For more information contact Dr. Barbara Audley at (308) 865-8211.
