DON FOX GUEST LECTURE TO FEATURE DR. GEORGE LOOKHART, 1968 UNK GRADUATE

UNK-The University of Nebraska at Kearney Department of Chemistry will host the Don Fox Guest Lecture on Thurs., Nov. 9 at Grandpa’s Steakhouse. David Clark, UNK Chemistry Professor said, “This is the 19th year that we have been doing this and we continue to honor distinguished alumni from the University. The evening will be both educational and enjoyable.”

The lecturer, Dr. George Lookhart, graduated from UNK in 1968 with a double major in math and chemistry. Lookhart then went on to gain his PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Wyoming. He then did post-doctoral work at the University of Kentucky and the University of Missouri.

Lookhart has published more than 100 manuscripts in peer reviewed journals, including 12 book chapters. He has also been heavily involved in the American Association of Chemistry, serving in a number of capacities. He is currently chair of the Hard Winter Wheat Technical Board Wheat Quality Council. He has been a research chemist for the United States Department of Agriculture in Manhattan, KS for nearly 25 years. He also is an adjunct professor at Kansas State University.

The evening will begin at 6:30 with a meal and followed by the lecture by Dr. George Lookhart around 8 p.m. Those that wish to attend the meal must call their reservations to UNK Chemistry Department at (308) 865-8490. Those not choosing to go to the meal can attend the lecture for no cost. The public is invited to attend.
