Dr. Sandra Bresnahan returns home to help Lexington community

 UNK, UNMC work together to bring more medical professionals to rural Nebraska When Dr. Sandra Bresnahan was a child, she often came with her parents to doctor appointments. Her parents were immigrants from Mexico and didn’t speak much English. UNK was established 117 years ago to support the growth and development of the state, largely by educating teachers who would in turn educate the next generation of rural Nebraskans. Nebraska needed, and UNK delivered. We were a solution with lasting benefits across the state, and even today, 1 in 7 Nebraska teachers has a degree from UNK. Campus event celebrates Rural Health Education Building and its future impact

 UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen, Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Charlie Bicak and Kearney Mayor Stan Clouse spoke Tuesday during a campus event celebrating the approval of funding for the new Rural Health Education Building. Legislature approves funding for UNK-UNMC Rural Health Education Building

 LINCOLN – State senators on Thursday gave final approval to legislation allocating Nebraska’s share of federal American Rescue Plan funds, including $60 million for a proposed Rural Health Education Building that would expand health care programs on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus. The bill, LB1014, now moves to Gov. Pete Ricketts’ desk for consideration. The governor has until Wednesday to sign or line-item veto the package.
