A limited number of tickets remain for the 15th Annual Edible Flowers Tea set for Sunday, July 15, at 2 p.m. at the G. W. Frank House, located on the University of Nebraska at Kearney West Campus.
“Some people love to get dressed up for tea, and we love to see that,” said Frank House Friends member Gloria LeDroit. “We encourage everyone, men and women, to come.”
At the edible flowers event, guests will drink tea and learn what all they can do with flowers they may have in their gardens. There will be a variety of recipes for ice creams, cakes, cookies and more using edible flowers. The event includes a demonstration, Frank House tour, recipe booklet and new this year, a garden tour.
Carol Schwartz, extension educator from the Buffalo County Extension Office, will be giving the demonstration of incorporating flowers into food, as well as identifying which flowers are safe to eat.
“On behalf of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, we would like to thank the Friends of the Frank House for all of the volunteering and fund-raising activities in support of the Frank House mission,” said KrisAnn Sullivan, Frank House director.
Sullivan said the Frank House mission is to preserve the mansion’s historical and aesthetic values for the benefit of the present and future generations.
“This is an opportunity for people to come out, see the Frank House and get excited about it,” LeDroit said.
Admission is $15. Donations for the restoration of the Frank House will be accepted.
