Creston Myers receives 2025 UNK Distinguished Chemistry Alumnus Award

KEARNEY – Creston M. Myers has been selected as the 2025 Dr. Donald E. Fox Distinguished Chemistry Alumnus.

He will be honored 11:30 a.m. Oct. 10 during the 45th annual Distinguished Alumni Awards luncheon in the Gala Room at the Regional Engagement Center, 2204 University Drive. Tickets are $30 per person ($35 starting Sept. 27) and $15 for children ages 12 and younger. Myers will give his lecture 2:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in Copeland Hall, Room 131. The lecture is open to the public.

We are proud to honor his achievements and the positive impact he continues to make in the field of optometry and beyond.”

Myers began his optometry career in 2003 after earning his Doctor of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry. He worked as an independent optometrist with Walmart in Storm Lake, Iowa, and Omaha for three years before joining a private practice in Alliance in 2006. In 2012, he purchased an existing practice and now serves as the owner and primary doctor at Family Vision Clinic.

Myers has served on the Nebraska Optometric Association Board of Directors and he was recognized as the 2011 Nebraska Optometric Association Young Optometrist of the Year. He’s currently a member of the Nebraska Optometric Association and chair of the Nebraska Health and Human Services Board of Optometry.

An Oshkosh native and Garden County High School graduate, Myers earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a minor in biology from UNK in 1999. He currently resides in Alliance.
