Audrey Kauders has been named director of the Museum of Nebraska Art, announced Chancellor Doug Kristensen today.
“Audrey Kauders has an outstanding record of achievement in museum management and education. We are indeed fortunate to employ someone with Audrey’s experience and vision,” said Chancellor Kristensen.
Kauders has served as interim director of MONA since March of 2002. Prior to that time, she served as director of the Joslyn Art Museum Foundation and the Joslyn Art Museum Foundation of Wyoming. Her previous experience also includes a variety of positions with the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and the Montgomery Performing Arts Company in Montgomery, Alabama. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Drama from Huntingdom College in Montgomery and her Executive
Masters from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Rodney Miller, Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Humanities, added “Audrey’s association with the Joslyn, as deputy director and, on two occasions, interim director, goes back more than 20 years. She has embraced Nebraska and its art and culture, becoming one of the movers and shakers within them. Her importance to the future of MONA is evident in the significant record she has already accrued as the interim director.”
Kauders will begin her duties as director on August 26.
