The University of Nebraska at Kearney will offer undergraduate degrees in business management and criminal justice in Grand Island and Columbus beginning this fall.
An informational meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, on the Central Community College campuses in the communities. In Grand Island, the meeting will be in Room 907 of the CIT Building; in Columbus, Room 906 of the North Education Center. Both degrees will be discussed, and there will be a question and answer period.
“UNK is excited to deliver these programs to Grand Island and Columbus, because they allow students to stay close to home,” said Gloria Vavricka, associate dean of continuing education.
“These programs are designed for the working adult who has professional or personal commitments and is unable to attend classes during the day or on the UNK campus,” she said. “Students will attend class only one night a week, yet earn six credit hours each semester.
“UNK will provide the delivery of the upper division courses, allowing the students to take the lower division courses from their local community college. Up to 66 credit hours may be transferred in from a community college.”
“The new criminal justice 2+2 program at UNK will serve the needs of professionals in Nebraska by allowing them to conveniently complete a degree in criminal justice,” said Dr. Joseph Carlson Jr., chair of the Department of Criminal Justice.
These degrees will also be available in Hastings. In Hastings, the meetings will be held 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, in Room 444 of the Platte Building on the CCC campus.
The degrees are being offered by the Department of Criminal Justice and the Department of Management, through the UNK Division of Continuing Education.
