SOUNDS OF SUMMER SOON TO HIT MONA

Music will soon fill the air at the Museum of Nebraska Art in downtown Kearney. Three concerts are scheduled for the MONA Guild’s 2002 Sounds of Summer on June 13, July 18 and August 15. The Sculpture Garden will open at 6 p.m. while the concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic and come share the magical evenings at MONA, a free will donation will be taken at intermission during each concert. Refreshments will also be available to purchase.

The Wild Clover Band, a local vocal/instrumental group, will kick off the series on June 13. They perform a large variety of instrumental and vocal Irish tunes and can also diversify their performance with a variety of musical styles ranging from rock, blues, jazz, cajun and classical.

The second performance will be held on July 18th and will feature Yikes, formerly known as Jasmine. All of the performers in this group are veteran musicians who play a wide variety of music including blues, rock and country. They will share music from their summer release CD.

The final performance will be on August 15th featuring Vocalogy. This group is a professional vocal jazz quartet. The group provides their audience with dazzling harmonies in a range of over five octaves in innovative arrangements written by the members. Vocalogy can be seen and heard on their website at www.vocalogy.net. Kearney native, David Thorne Scott, is the lead tenor soloist for Vocalogy.
