2003 UNK CHANCELLOR’S AMBASSADORS SELECTED

Nineteen University of Nebraska at Kearney students have been selected to serve as the Chancellor’s Ambassadors for the 2002-2003 academic year. As official hosts and hostesses for UNK, the Chancellor’s Ambassadors represent the university and assist in entertaining celebrities, dignitaries and other guests of the university at gatherings hosted by the UNK Chancellor.

Ambassadors are chosen based on their involvement in campus activities, academic background, poise, leadership ability, knowledge of UNK, and interpersonal and communication skills. After being selected, Ambassadors receive training in etiquette, campus history and a variety of other topics. They serve for one academic year and are expected to attend monthly meetings and be available to represent the university at selected events.

The 2002-2003 Chancellor’s Ambassadors are listed below.

Returning Ambassadors:

  • Brett Bandemer of Grand Island was selected as the Ambassador Coordinator for 2002-03. He is majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Management and Marketing. His campus involvement includes: Economics/General Business Tutor; President, Vice President and Secretary of the Student Alumni Foundation; Vice President and Scholarship & Fundraising Chairman of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
  • Molly Lungrin of Kearney is majoring in Organizational Communication. Her campus involvement includes: Chapter President Alpha Phi Sorority; Director of Public Relations Panhellenic Council; Director of Public Relations for the Student Alumni Foundation.
  • Chip Shield of Holdrege majoring in Industrial Distribution. His campus involvement includes: Delta Tau Delta Fraternity; Interfraternity Council; Mortar Board; Student Support Services.
  • Thiago Silva of Teresina, Brazil, is double majoring in Computer Information Systems and Spanish. His campus involvement includes: Vice President International Student Association; International Student Orientation; Resident Advisor for the 2002-2003 school year.
  • Stacy Smith of Scottsbluff is majoring in Business Administration with a Finance and Accounting Emphasis. Her campus involvement includes: UNK Women’s Golf Team; Student Alumni Foundation Secretary; Vice President of Chapter Operations Alpha Phi Sorority.
  • Stayko Staykov of Bourga, Bulgaria is double majoring in Computer Science and Political Science. His campus involvement includes: Assistant Hall Director; President of the International Student Association; host for the James E. Smith Midwest Conference on World Affairs.

New Ambassadors:

  • Mindy Boehr of Henderson is double majoring in Biology and Political Science. Her campus involvement includes: Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority; Honors Student Advisory Board; Student Senate; Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
  • Leann Fritsche of Maywood is double majoring in Political Science and Business Administration. Her campus involvement includes: Locke and Key Society; UNK Track Team; Former Secretary Ludden Hall Council; Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
  • Nivaraka Gukathasan of Toronto, Ontario, Canada is majoring in Telecommunications Management. Her campus involvement includes: board member Professional Organization of Telecommunications Students; International Student Association; Gold Torch Society.
  • Klinton Holscher of Ogallala is majoring in Industrial Distribution. His campus involvement includes: Philanthropy Chair on Interfraternity Council; Student Activities Council; President Sigma Phi Epsilon.
  • Diana Nyaoke Kere of Nairobi, Kenya, is majoring in Computer Information Systems. Her campus involvement includes: International Student Association; Mentor Program; Leadership Conference.
  • Michelle Kruse of Grand Island is majoring in Organization Communication. Her campus involvement includes: Panhellenic President; National Communication Coordinator; Sister Hood Committee member for Chi Omega; Director of Student Organizations and Affairs of Student Government.
  • Nathan Marsh of Morrill is majoring in Multimedia with a minor in Public Relations. His campus involvement includes: Honors Program; Residential Advisor; alumni member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity; Campus Lutheran.
  • Brian Meade of Papillion is double majoring in Political Science and Economics. His campus involvement includes: Lancy Foundation Grant Research; Varsity Track Team; Student Senate; Locke and Key Society; Navigators Campus Ministry; the Honors Student Advisory Board.
  • Emily Ohm of Elkhorn is majoring in Journalism Public Relations. Her campus involvement includes: UNK Women’s Basketball Team; Honors Program; Antelope Sports Writer; Honors Program Communication Recruitment Association; Advertising/Public Relations Vice President.
  • Kimberly Short of Norfolk is double majoring in Elementary Education and Family Studies. Her campus involvement includes: Residence Hall Association Vice President; Honors Student Advisory Board Secretary; Hall Council; Homecoming Week.
  • Santa Ram Susarapu of Palasa, India, is pursuing a Masters of Business Administration. His campus involvement includes: Graduate Assistant; Tutor in Algebra and Accounting; Treasurer of the International Student Association.
  • Lina Traslavina of Cassopolis, Michigan is majoring in Business Administration. Her campus involvement includes: co-founder and Secretary of the Latin American Student Association; International Student Association member; 2001-2002 Randall Hall Resident Advisor.
  • Carlos Henry Vivas of Cambridge, Ontario, is majoring in Business Administration. His campus involvement includes: Latin American Student Association Founders Committee; International Student Association Member; International Education Computer trainer.
