The University of Nebraska Kearney has been hard at work researching topics ranging from “Indoor Air Quality of UNK Residence Halls” to “The Human Genome Project and the Law”, to even “The Survival of Democracy”. On April 22, UNK will host its 4th annual Student Research Day to show off all that research. Held in the Health and Sports Center from 12 noon- 3 p.m., an award reception will follow at 3 p.m.
There will be 149 student exhibitors displaying posters of their research and findings. Their topics cover a wide variety of subjects in the Fine Arts & Humanities, Behavioral & Social Sciences, Natural/Physical Sciences, Professional/Applied Sciences and Graduate Studies.
New to SRD this year will be the involvement of theatre. There will be five students performing a short play entitled, “Jean Duffy: Of All the Parts She Plays” in the Zikmund Conference Room in the UNK Health and Sports Center at 12:30 p.m.
Students will man their respective posters throughout the day to answer questions. The event is free and open to the public.
Also taking place in conjunction with SRD, will be the Student Conference on Language and Literature in the Calvin T. Ryan Library, Jennings Room from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and the Graduate Student paper presentations in the Thomas Hall atrium at 3 p.m., both on Friday, April 19.
“Student Research Day has grown, not only because of more undergraduate research being done on campus, but also the increase in creative activities,” states Dr. Ken Nikels, Dean of Graduate Studies & Research at UNK.
