The University of Nebraska Kearney recently announced the recipients of the 2002-2003 O.K. Bouwsma and Don Welch Family Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded through the department of philosophy. The O.K. Bouwsma scholarship was created by a $200,000 gift from an anonymous donor and is named after O.K. During his tenure, he received the “Outstanding Nebraskan” faculty award.
The scholarships are awarded to the top students who have submitted a philosophical essay to the competition. The essays are read, judged and ranked by the members of the philosophy department.
