Victorian Game Day is the focus of the Saturday at the Frank House program on Saturday, Oct. 6.
The games will begin at 1:30 p.m. with hostess Paula Nesiba of Kearney. The event is free and open to the public.
“The event connects Victorian Era fun, the roots from which the Frank House was built on, with present day entertainment,” said Sally Hale of the Frank House. “Nesiba will restore the games of the Victorian Era in the historical atmosphere of the home.”
Nesiba said she will be providing games such as pass the slipper, spuds and spoons, king of the hill and many more
“These all would’ve been typical games that any child would’ve played at the Frank House with their friends or family,” Nesiba said. “After giving tours, kids asked what kids their age would do back in the Victorian Era, so I researched it, and turned it into an event!”
The Saturday at the Frank House programs offer a variety of topics for all ages, and are provided by volunteers. Volunteer presenters include UNK students, faculty and community members who will present topics on music, history, social customs and holiday celebrations.
Regular walk-in-hours at the Frank House are Monday through Friday, 2-5 p.m., and Saturday, noon-5 p.m. The Frank House is closed during UNK breaks and holidays. Donations are always accepted.
