You are invited to a reception on Friday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. to celebrate the new INBRE grant to the Department of Biology. The program will be held in the Cedar Room of the Nebraskan Student Union. Drs. Julie Shaffer, Kim Carlson, Janet Steele and Paul Twigg each worked to develop research proposals as part of a consortium led by UNMC. With a $252.364 subcontract in the first year of a five-year project, these four faculty members will be able to conduct research while creating important research experiences for undergraduate students.

Funding from National Institutes of Health, via subcontract with UNMC
The BRIN project is designed to enhance the competitiveness of biomedical research in Nebraska by developing the human and technological resources essential to cutting edge research in functional genomics. The foundation of the project is a collaboration between seven undergraduate institutions (including UNK) and three PhD granting institutions. UNMC is the lead organization on the grant.
