The University of Nebraska at Kearney is seeking public comment about the institution in preparation for its evaluation this spring by the North Central Association, according to Dr. Ken Nikels, UNK dean of Graduate Studies & Research.
In April, the campus will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit by a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
“UNK has been accredited by the commission since 1916 and is requesting continued accreditation,” Dean Nikels said.
“The team will review the institution’s ability to meet the commission’s Criteria for Accreditation and General Institutional Requirements.” The accreditation self-study will be on file in the Reserve section of Calvin T. Ryan Library on the UNK campus, beginning March 3.

“Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs,” he said. “Comments must be in writing and signed, and cannot be treated as confidential.” The deadline for comments is March 29.
