UNK Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team Named Regional Champion at SIFE Regional Competition in Boston

The University of Nebraska at Kearney Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team swept their league taking top honors in the SIFE Regional Competition held recently in Boston.

The UNK team earned the Regional Champion title, winning five trophies and a total of $3,500 in cash prizes in the process. The team will advance to the National SIFE Competition May 22-24 in Kansas City. The team earned the title by taking first place in the National Free Market Economics competition, Entrepreneurship competition, Personal Financial Success Skills and Business Ethics competition categories, which earned them all of the top awards in the league.

“The judges were impressed with the team’s dedication, creativity and poise,” said Dr. Susan Jensen, SIFE Team faculty adviser. “This is a tremendous accomplishment – I couldn’t be more proud of the students. They represented UNK well.”

SIFE is active on more than 1,500 college and university campuses in 37 countries. The concept of SIFE is to work as teams and provide students the experience of developing and implementing projects that improve the understanding of the principles of free enterprise and how to use this information to empower all those who embrace the principles. UNK’s SIFE team has been in existence on the UNK campus for two years.
