A group of University of Nebraska at Kearney students are in Mississippi this week as part of a mission trip to help rebuild homes in areas affected by the recent tornado disaster and Hurricane Katrina.
The students will be working in Perkinston, Miss. In addition to rebuilding homes, the students will also attend leadership training and programming sessions while they are there. The trip is sponsored by United Campus Ministry.
“The Barn, home of the Wesley Foundation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Perkinston campus, will be hosting us,” said Andrew Gilg of Central City, UNK United Campus Ministry member.
UCM is sponsored jointly by the United Methodist Church, the Disciples of Christ, the Presbyterian Church and the United Church of Christ churches of Nebraska. The UNK chapter is directed by Laura Stubblefield.
