UNK– Christopher Gugel of Amherst will perform a saxophone recital on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Fine Arts Recital Hall.
The recital, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public. Gugel studies saxophone with Dr. David Nabb, UNK professor of music.
Musical compositions Gugel will perform include “Sonata for Alto Saxophone” by Bernard Heiden, “Sonata in E Major” by J.S. Bach arranged by Marcel Mule, “Grand Trio Op. 86 III” by Fridrich Kuhlau, “Caprice en Forme de Valse,” by Paul Bonneau and “Concert Struck” by P.M. Dubois. He will be accompanied by Dr. Marilyn Musick of Kearney on piano. Dr. Nabb and Kearney High School saxophonist Jacob Petr of Riverdale will join Gugel on stage for selected pieces.
Gugel, son of Randy and Sue Gugel of Amherst, is a music performance and music education major. Petr is the son of Jeff and Diana Petr of Riverdale.
