KEARNEY – Dr. Tyler Martin, who has 25 years of experience in the biotechnology industry, will return to the University of Nebraska at Kearney as the keynote speaker for the sixth annual Doug Lund DNA Day.
Martin will discuss the use of DNA motifs to improve vaccine effectiveness during Friday’s event in Copeland Hall Room 142. Light refreshments will be available at 3:30 p.m. followed by Martin’s presentation at 4 p.m. DNA Day is free and open to the public.
Martin, a Hebron native and UNK graduate, is chief executive officer and chairman of Lincoln-based Great Plains Biotechnology, a consulting group for biotechnology companies and investors. He is also chairman, president and CEO of Adjuvance Technologies, a private vaccine adjuvant company with offices in New York and Lincoln, based on intellectual property from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and chairman and CEO of Hudson Biotechnology, a Lincoln-based company that aspires to develop a vaccine against Lyme disease.
Martin has led development activities to support more than 100 investigational new drug applications and developed four drugs that received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or European Medicines Agency.
He has held senior leadership positions with a number of biotech companies and serves on numerous industry boards.
Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from UNK and doctor of medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
DNA Day was established in 2013 in honor of Doug Lund, a longtime biology professor at UNK. Now retired, Lund encouraged scientific inquiry and a love for biology in all his students.
