Doug Ewald, State Tax Commissioner To At Talk At Present Town Hall Monday, April 21, At UNK

UNK- Doug Ewald, state tax commissioner for the Nebraska Department of Revenue, will talk about current tax issues at a town hall forum at 6 p.m. Monday, April 21, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
        Ewald, who is one in a series of speakers being sponsored this semester by the Center for Rural Research and Development,
will give the presentation in Room 208N of the West Center Building. After his presentation, there will be a question and answer session.
          Ewald will also serve as a guest lecturer in three accounting classes on Tuesday, April 22. The courses are Advanced Tax Accounting and two Cost Accounting classes.
            According to Deborah Murray, director of the Center for Rural Research and Development, Ewald will be introduced to each of the College of Business and Technology Outreach Centers while he is on campus.
             “We want to explore ways that the Department of Revenue and the College of Business and Technology can expand on their relationship and inform students of state government employment opportunities,” Murray said.
            Ewald joined the Nebraska Department of Revenue in 2006. He had previously been in private sector accounting and business planning for 19 years. He has also served as director of state taxes, manager of state taxes, senior project manager for taxation, senior tax associate and tax associate for Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha.
        Ewald received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, and his master’s degree in accounting at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
