Kristina (Hubl) Selvage, a University of Nebraska at Kearney senior from Blue Hill majoring in vocational business education, has been selected for an Outstanding Student Award from UNK Office of Academic Success.
Selvage was presented the award at the Academic Success Fall 2006 Awards and Recognition Social held last week on the campus.
The Outstanding Student Award is presented to students who “exemplify scholarship, leadership, and service to UNK and to the community.” Those selected for the award are expected to “epitomize a successful blend of ability, work ethic and spirit of the pursuit of excellence.”
Selvage, who transferred to UNK in the fall of 2004, has been a Student Support Services (SSS) scholar and also has been named to the Deans’ List every semester.
After graduating, Selvage plans to obtain a teaching position near her hometown, and “inspiring and touching her future students’ lives, and starting a family.”
According to Selvage, freshmen should make an effort to get involved on campus and make new friends. She also advises students to take advantage of all the services that UNK and SSS has to offer.
Selvage said SSS has helped her achieve her academic goals by being supportive and offering programs that gave her good advice regarding her future.
