KEARNEY – The Jazz Rock Ensemble at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will present its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 7) in the Fine Arts Building Recital Hall on campus.
The show is free and open to the public and features big band sounds, with works from the swing era to present big bands.
The ensemble will perform several types of swing, samba, rock, jazz rock fusion, reggae, New Orleans second line, contemporary jazz and funk.
Music will come from the libraries of Glenn Miller, Arturo Sandoval, Tom Kubis, Maynard Ferguson and other writers.
“We are performing a number of great jazz charts, and as usual there will be lots of different style and good-time grooves,” said UNK Professor of Music James Payne.
