Megan Telecky, assistant director of UNK Facilities Management and Planning, received the University of Nebraska Board of Regents KUDOS award during Friday’s meeting.

KUDOS awards recognize university staff for their professional expertise, service and “superior dedication” to UNK and the University of Nebraska. It is the university’s top staff award.

Telecky joined the UNK Facilities team in June 2020 as business manager. Through her leadership, dedication and strong understanding of university operations, she was later promoted to assistant director of facilities in 2022.

In her current role, she oversees a wide range of critical operations that keep campus running smoothly. These include service desk operations, accounts payable and receivable, facilities payroll and recordkeeping, Central Stores, purchasing, asset disposal and surplus inventory, environmental health and safety, events and reservations, mail services and motor pool operations.

Telecky plays an important role in financial stewardship for the university, contributing significantly to budgeting efforts for facilities and the broader campus. She previously served on the Campus Budget Advisory Committee.

In addition, she leads campus sustainability efforts and education, helping guide initiatives that support a more environmentally responsible campus community.

Beyond her operational responsibilities, Telecky is engaged in campus leadership and service, currently serving as a Staff Senate representative and as chair of the Professional Development and Engagement Committee. She has also been an active participant in both Leadership UNK and Leadership Kearney.

Her impact extends beyond campus, as well. Telecky serves as finance committee chair for CAPPA (Central Association of Physical Plant Administrators), a position she’s held since November 2023.

She notes that her success is a direct reflection of the dedication, professionalism and hard work of her team, whose contributions play an essential role in everything she accomplishes.
