KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney campus will be closed Thursday (July 10) due to a scheduled power outage needed to complete infrastructure upgrades.
Nebraska Public Power District will be working on a major portion of UNK’s electrical system, conducting updates and repairs that require a full disconnection of campus power. The outage will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until the work is completed later in the day.
During this time, all campus buildings will be without power. This includes loss of lighting, air conditioning, office equipment, and building-level network and Wi-Fi access. Core network systems will remain operational via generator backup, and remote access will still be available off campus through VPN.
No classes will be conducted on July 10. Employees and students are asked to plan accordingly and refrain from coming to campus.
