Tyler Pierce-Panowicz, workstation support associate with Information Technology Services, received the University of Nebraska Board of Regents KUDOS award during Thursday’s meeting.
KUDOS awards recognize university staff for their professional expertise, service and “superior dedication” to UNK and the University of Nebraska. It is the university’s top staff award.
Pierce-Panowicz joined UNK ITS in August 2018 as a student worker and accepted a full-time position in July 2019. He graduated from UNK in May 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in information networking and telecommunications.
Beyond his technical skills, Pierce-Panowicz demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities. He was elected president of UNK Staff Senate, served on the Women in IT conference planning team, facilitated the Team Dynamix Knowledge Base implementation and currently spearheads the universitywide Windows 11 upgrade. His revamped student worker training program, combining online modules with hands-on experience, has streamlined onboarding and improved efficiency.
“I’ve received numerous compliments about Tyler and his great attitude, customer service skills and breadth of knowledge. He is an outstanding employee who regularly goes above and beyond to help everyone,” said Andrea Childress, assistant vice president of Information Technology Services.
A recipient of the UNK Employee Achievement Award in August 2023, Pierce-Panowicz’s commitment to excellence extends to his own development. He completed the ITS Leadership Academy and Advanced Endpoint Management Training, where he was recognized with the “most growth” award. This dedication to continuous learning ensures he stays at the forefront of technology.
