Shawn Lienemann, senior workstation support specialist for client services in Information Technology Services, received the University of Nebraska Board of Regents KUDOS award during Friday’s meeting.
KUDOS awards recognize university staff for their professional expertise, service and “superior dedication” to UNK and the University of Nebraska. It is the university’s top staff award.
Lienemann earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in management of information systems and Master of Business Administration from UNK. He worked in ITS for three years as a student before becoming a full-time employee in 2013.
His position can be described as having dual roles.
In one, he provides primary technology support for the College of Education. “Unmatched technical support,” according to Dean of Education Mark Reid, due to his “vast technical understanding and the ability to work with people with a variety of technical knowledge.”
He supports, implements, researches and designs all technology within the college and has become a primary contact for A/V projects, digital signage, print server management, SharePoint/Teams support and design, and EMS scheduling.
In a second role, he works closely with the main ITS desktop support group and fellow college techs to provide efficiencies and specific support across campus. Additionally, he contributed to two significant ITS migrations: the Unified Network implementation and Box-to-SharePoint, assuring the specific needs of each building, department and college were met.
Also of note are his work with students in the Kearney Health Opportunities Program and Thompson Scholars Learning Community and service on committees such as the College of Education Technology Committee, ITS Strategic Sourcing Committee, ITS Computer Standards Evaluation Committee and others.
Lienemann is a past recipient of the UNK Employee Achievement Award and UNK Technology Excellence Award.
