Kearney Symphony Orchestra closing season Tuesday with ‘Saints and Sinners’

KEARNEY – Kearney Symphony Orchestra will perform its final concert of the 2021-22 season 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Merryman Performing Arts Center, 225 W. 22nd St.

“Saints and Sinners” includes the “Russian Easter Overture” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and “Bacchanale” from Camille Saint-Saëns’ opera “Samson et Dalila.” The program also features selections from Johannes Brahms and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed with UNK choir members and conductor John Petzet. UNK Concerto/Aria Competition winner Hannah Petersen of Omaha will sing soprano during an aria from Mozart’s opera “Don Giovanni.”

Individual tickets for the in-person performance are $13 for adults, $10 for UNK faculty and staff, $5 for youths ages 11-18 and free for children 10 and younger and UNK students with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at the UNK Theatre Box Office from 12:30-5 p.m. Tuesday or at the Merryman Performing Arts Center Box Office beginning at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

Audience members are invited to a “Pre-Concert Talk” with the Rev. John Gosswein from 6:30-7 p.m. at the Merryman. The “Pre-Concert Talk” is free and open to all concertgoers, with light refreshments served.

For those who cannot attend in person, the concert will be livestreamed on the KSO website – unk.edu/kso – where you can also access a digital concert program and listen to “Intermission Interviews.”
