The University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Rural Development taught children ages 11-13 how to start or improve a business earlier this week at its annual Biz Kidz Camp.
Learning activities included finances, marketing, customer service, problem-solving and public speaking. They learned from area professionals and business owners throughout the week.
Each participant created their own business before promoting and selling their products during a public showcase.
Six of the campers sold their products Friday night outside Hy-Vee in north Kearney for the first Biz Kidz Showcase. Campers also have the option to participate in a second event July 17 in downtown Kearney.
A separate Biz Kidz Camp for ages 10-14 will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the public library in Ravenna, 324 Milan Ave.
