UNK moving to Phase 2 of COVID-19 plan

KEARNEY – Effective Friday, Sept. 25, UNK’s pandemic response status will move to Phase 2.

The number of active positive COVID-19 cases at UNK has remained flat or decreased in recent weeks. Employees and students are reminded to remain diligent in wearing masks, distancing, self-screening and reporting symptoms. These are simple measures that are proving to be effective in controlling the spread on campus.

Students, employees and campus visitors are required to wear masks in all public and shared environments on campus. This includes classrooms, regardless of spacing of individuals, offices where people work within 6 feet of each other, common areas, restrooms, elevators, outdoor spaces when separation is not possible and university-provided group or mass transit.

To slow the spread of the virus and keep UNK safe, please comply with the following Phase 2 protocols:

  • Self-screen by using UNK’s #CampusClear App. If you have COVID symptoms or believe you need a test, call UNK’s Public Health Center at 308-865-8279 or email unkhealth@unk.edu.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick, avoid campus if you are sick and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Events must be approved. Organizers must submit plans to UNK’s Event Approval Committee at least two weeks prior to the event.
  • Residents living in CTW, CTE, Men’s, Mantor, Randall, URS or URN residence halls may have up to three total guests in their rooms. Residents in Village Flats, Antelope or Nester halls may have up to six total guests in their suites or apartment common areas. Guests must wear a mask that covers the mouth and nose in all public and shared environments while in the residence halls and apartments. This includes common areas, restrooms, elevators, hallways and lobbies, as well as outside areas when a 6-foot distance cannot be maintained.
