KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney chapter of the College Diabetes Network is partnering with the Lincoln and Greater Nebraska chapter of JDRF to raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes.

The groups are hosting a JDRF Community One Walk on April 14 at Yanney Park, 2020 W. 11th St., in Kearney. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins with check-in and other activities at 1 p.m., followed by the walk at 2 p.m.

Participants can choose to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a nonprofit that supports Type 1 diabetes research.

“JDRF Community One Walk is led by passionate volunteers with one goal: to create a world without Type 1 diabetes,” the organization says on its website. “It’s amazing what can happen when a community comes together to make a cure a reality.”

Registration for the Kearney event is available online at www.jdrf.org. Enter “Kearney” in the search bar and select “JDRF One Walk, Kearney 2019.”
