KEARNEY – The University Theatre at Kearney and the University of Nebraska at Kearney Dance Program will perform their spring dance concert, “push&pull,” Thursday through Saturday.

Director of Dance, Noelle Bohaty, explores the dualities of mind and body, and commercial and concert dance during the performances.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. April 20 through 22 at the Miriam Drake Theatre.

Bohaty has restaged two repertory works in addition to creating a new piece. The finale performance is a new work from guest artists Marisol Herling and Beth Jensen of the embi Dance Company in Lincoln.

An exploration of the moving body, “push&pull” features repertory and premiere works by UNK students, faculty and guest artists, including Noelle Bohaty and the embi Dance Company.

Bohaty restaged “figurehead: ship to wreck,” which premiered at BalletMET in Columbus, Ohio, as well as “the order of things,” which was part of her masters of fine arts thesis project. Her newest work, “after: math, shambles, glow” premiered earlier this year at the American College Dance Conference regional festival in Wichita, Kan. Additionally, Anthony Donofrio, assistant professor of music composition and theory, composed the score for this original work.

The dance company consists of 19 performers from UNK, in collaboration with both student and faculty costume and lighting designers, including Sara Ice and Michael DeLorm. The evening features 11 pieces, running about two hours including intermission.

General admission tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for youth, and $5 for groups of 10 or more. Admission is free for UNK students.
